NORCOWE and NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) are hosting a workshop on FAST on the 11th and 12th of September. FAST is a wind turbine computer-aided engineering software tool developed by NREL. The one-and-a-half-day workshop will be offered in English, at Rica Hotel Bergen. Lecturer is Ph.D. Jason Jonkman, Senior Engineer at NREL. The time is
September 11: 0900-1700
September 12: 0900-1330
A dinner is planned for Thursday evening at Bølgen og Moi, and Friday ends with lunch at 12:30-13:30.
Through US Department of Energy support, NREL has sponsored the development, verification, and validation of various CAE tools for prediction of wind turbine performance, loads, and response. The workshop will focus on the coupled wind turbine aero-hydro-servo-elastic CAE tool FAST. The workshop will present the basic theory, structure, capabilities, and future plans of this tool and sample simulations will be run to demonstrate its features. Attendees should bring a laptop if they wish to run the sample simulations. We have now reached the limit of 50 participants, but please sign up for the waiting list below if you would like to take part. Free places may occur.
The cost for the workshop will be 1500 NOK, while participation at the dinner will be an extra 900 NOK. Members of NORCOWE participate for free.
