NORCOWE's yearly work package meetings took this year place on the 6th and 7th of May at the University of Agder in Grimstad. The meeting gathered more than 60 persons from NORCOWE as well as invited external participants from Carbon Trust, ECN, NHH (Norwegian School of Economics), UiO (University of Oslo), University of Oldenburg/ForWind and WindSim.

The work package meetings give an overview over the current status of research in NORCOWE as well as giving an important opportunity for meetings - a necessity for a consortium which is geographically spread. The NORCOWE Reference Wind Farm working group met to discuss further work: several key design parameters are in place, and the plan is to have an internal release in the month of June. Thomas Bak, professor at the University of Aalborg, will present the reference wind farm at the conference Science Meets Industry Bergen - Offshore Wind on the 9th of September.

Finn Gunnar Nielsen from Statoil, Associated Professor at the University of Bergen, presented the outcome of a NORCOWE workshop on scales which was held in February (Relevant time and length scales in offshore wind). Other NORCOWE partners presented their research within offshore wind, including Acona Flow Technology, StormGeo, Norwegian Meteorological Institute and Leosphere.
Below are pictures from a visit to the Norwegian Motion Lab at the end of the first day, where a short demonstration was set up.
