Last week Daniel Paletti from Leosphere visited Bergen to give us a brief course in using their lidar for offshore deployment - Windcube v2 Offshore. The two day course was held at the Geophysical Institute at the University of Bergen and was frequented by students and personnel from the University of Bergen and from Christian Michelsen Research.
The Windcube v2 Offshore is a vertical wind doppler lidar with five lines of sight for extra precision. It is equipped with a gyrosensor to be able to calculate the effect of measuring from a moving platform. While being designed to be well protected from the effects of a harsh climate, the weather in Bergen was sunny as we set up the system on the lawn in front of the Geophysical Institute and later on the rooftop.
We would like to thank Leopshere for an interesting course and are looking forward to putting the new lidar to good use!
